better to do -- decide that one
of them is a philosopher and
the other, a psychologist.

It's too hard, I'll never make it

No matter what I do it won't make any difference.

"She gave me that look that just made me sink into my shoes. I can't go over there."

"Anne, why don't you give it a try?"

I cant go back to school at my age!

People will laugh at me

I'll look like an idiot on rollerblades. That's for kids. Besides, I don't even know where to get them

"Mr. Stoner, you have to give up smoking and get some regular exercise."

I definitely don't have enough time in my day to do that. I'm just too busy

15 pounds is just too much to lose. Now 5 pounds, that I could do. But 15? I'll just get used to my thighs the way they are

"Let's roll down the hill like when we were kids. It'll be fun. Come on."

I'll be embarrassed

I tried it once before and look what happened. Why subject myself to that again?

"Why did you take me to a singles bar? I hate this stuff!"

He'll just dump me like all the rest. I don't want to get involved

"Let's start a business. In a few months it will be going on and we can quit our jobs and then you'll work the odd months and I'll work the even months."

But I'm comfortable in my job. I don't want to have to start all over again

It's too much effort
